I’m Dr. Nelson Amaral, a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist & an expert in the assessment, detection, and treatment of heart problems across North and Central London. I provide personalised care for all cardiac conditions, specifically tailored to your individual needs.

My extensive medical journey began with studies at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf (Germany) & the University of Bern (Switzerland), where I qualified in 2004. I completed my specialist cardiology training in London, including fellowship training at top UK hospitals such as King’s College Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital.

My Specialist Expertise & Advanced Diagnostics:

I specialise in diagnosing and treating common cardiac symptoms, including chest discomfort, shortness of breath, palpitations (irregular heartbeats), and dizziness. I also hold specialist expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, utilising techniques like stress echocardiography & cardiac CT to provide highly comprehensive patient care.

With prior training in anaesthetics, I possess unique expertise in the cardiac assessment and management of patients undergoing surgery (pre-operative cardiac assessment), ensuring optimal safety and outcomes.

My Academic Excellence & Research-Driven Care:

Beyond my clinical practice, I’m deeply committed to academic excellence. I hold two postgraduate doctorate degrees, an MD(Res) and a PhD, and an academic position as an Associate Professor at University College London (UCL).
